The votes are in!

Today, we were delighted to announce our new Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and House Captains for the year. Following thoughtful applications and speeches, these pupils have been chosen to represent the voices of their peers and help lead our school community. We are incredibly proud of everyone who put themselves forward and look forward to seeing our new student leaders embrace their responsibilities and make a positive difference across the school. Congratulations to all of our successful candidates! 🌟👏

Phonics Fun! 🐸📚🌈

Thank you so much to all of our wonderful parents and carers who joined us today for our Phonics Parent Meeting. It was brilliant to be able to share how we support our young readers at Gulval School.

If you couldn’t make it, don’t worry! This poster gives you a snapshot of Read Write Inc. Phonics and lots of easy ways to continue the learning at home or please do feel free to pop in and arrange a time to catch up.

Remember, Phonics practice doesn’t need to take long. Little and often is perfect!

Read together, practice sounds, play with words and most importantly, keep it fun! ⭐

★ Democracy in Action ★

Today, our school proudly put one of the British Values into practice by taking part in a democratic vote for our School Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.

Pupils had the opportunity to listen to candidates, consider their ideas and cast their votes, just as they would in a real election. This valuable experience helped children understand the importance of having a voice, making informed choices and respecting the views of others.

We are incredibly proud of all the candidates for their courage and enthusiasm, and of every pupil who participated responsibly in the voting process. What a fantastic way to bring learning to life and develop future citizens!

Congratulations to all involved. We look forward to announcing the results and seeing our new student leaders make a positive impact across the school. ⭐

Join Us for Our Open Afternoon!

Is your child due to start school in September 2027? We would love to welcome you to Gulval School for our Open Afternoon on Wednesday 4th November, 3:45pm to 4:45pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore our EYFS classroom, meet our dedicated Early Years team and discover the exciting learning experiences we offer our youngest pupils. 🔒 Online Safety Information Session for Parents & Carers 🔒

We are delighted to invite all parents and carers to an Online Safety Briefing taking place on Wednesday 30th September, 4.00pm to 4.45pm. This virtual session can be joined from anywhere and is open to all families. The session will explore all aspects of children’s online lives, including:

✅ The latest trends and data
✅ Practical advice to help keep children safe online
✅ Guidance on supporting children to thrive in the digital world

With children spending more time online than ever before, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain up-to-date information and useful strategies to support your child at home!

A fun week in Ruby Class

This week in Ruby Class, we have been exploring a range of materials that we can cut, discussing whether we found them easy or difficult to cut. We then used these materials to create a variety of pictures. We were also practicing how we hold our scissors.

A Paddington Bear Mystery

Year 3 had an exciting surprise today! Mrs Sherwood arrived with a lost suitcase and items that seemed to belong to Paddington Bear. The children became detectives, searching the school for clues and showing their bear stance whenever they spotted something Paddington related. When we returned to class… everything had vanished! Paddington must be off on his next adventure. We wish him well and can’t wait to retell our story maps and begin our character descriptions.

A very messy visitor!

Topaz Class had a very messy visitor this week. Mr Messy came and made a horrible mess in our beautifully tidy classroom. We enjoyed investigating the clues he left behind and exploring his character. We have now started learning a character description all about Mr Messy.
