Gulval School converted to academy status on the 1st June 2014. Mr Paul Baker, took up the post of Headteacher on September 1st 2014. In November 2022 we welcomed Ofsted inspectors back to Gulval School and could not be prouder of our achievement, remaining a ‘Good’ School where ‘Pupil behaviour is exemplary’. Ofsted stated in their report that ‘Pupils flourish at this inclusive and nurturing school. They thrive in an environment where their social and emotional well-being is a priority. Leaders and staff share a common commitment to this. They support pupils to grow into confident, resilient young people, well prepared to face the challenges of modern life.
Our recent inspection follows a Section 5 inspection in May 2017 when Her Majesties Inspectors (HMI) agreed that our happy school was indeed, a Good school. We were delighted that inspectors acknowledged our hard work in keeping children safe. As well as recognising how we support children’s emotional and social development. In addition, they also commented on our relentless drive to ensure behaviour is exemplary which was given an Outstanding judgement.

An explicit part of our curriculum rationale is the desire to improve the richness and inspirational aspects of primary education as outlined in our three ‘I’s: intent, implementation and impact.
- Intent– the extent to which schools demonstrate a rich and varied curriculum
- Implementation– that learners enjoy and are engaged in all aspects of this broad and balanced curriculum
- Impact– that learners develop detailed knowledge and skills across the whole curriculum.
