Our vision and values

A value is a principle that guides our thinking and our behaviour. At Gulval School, every individual is valued for who they are and the important contribution they make to our community. Our 3 simple rules of ‘Ready Respect Safe’ were developed with our community who worked alongside pupils and the Headteacher to decide what was important to them.

Respect and responsibility are important in preparing our children for today’s multi-cultural society. To support and encourage our values we teach diversity throughout our curriculum but especially through Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE), Religious Education (RE), and Relationship, Health and Sex Education (RHSE). We were proud to receive the Stonewall School Champions award and have continued our work on Diversity. In 2021 we celebrated becoming the first Thrive Approach ‘School of Excellence’ in the country, a reward that we are very proud of.

Our vision and values

We want to empower pupils so that they feel safe, secure and a deep sense of belonging to their community. Our vision is simple; we are striving for excellence in all that we do and are passionate that our pupils receive the very best ‘adventurous’ education. We want every pupils to realise their potential and have a full, purposeful and happy life.

Through our Adventurous Curriculum and Responsibilities Program, we want to support pupils so that they gain the necessary skills and strong moral values to live happily within our community and wider society. We want children to enjoy school, gain a deep satisfaction and greater self belief through their own achievements.

What Makes Us Extraordinary?

We are the first Thrive Approach ‘School of Excellence’ in the country and are proud to prioritise Personal Development, good mental health, wellbeing and positive relationships, the foundations to academic progress and achievement. We encourage and support children to feel and be responsible through our Responsibilities Program, leading to a deep sense of community belonging.

No Child Left Behind

Our aim is to make sure every child fulfils their potential; not all pupils will be traditionally academic so it is important that every child has choices and develops the valuable skills that will enable them to succeed beyond school and in life.
