Stepping Into the World of Beowulf

Diamond Class launched into our new English writing unit with an unforgettable drama exploration of Beowulf, our key text for the term. To step into the story, we travelled back to Anglo‑Saxon Britain, taking on the roles of fearless warriors navigating the bleak, misty moors (top court transformed brilliantly into our gloomy landscape). From there, we found shelter and celebration inside our very own ‘great hall’, imagined as a towering castle filled with warmth. But the peace didn’t last long. A terrifying monster soon emerged, shaking the hall and sending our warriors into chaos — the perfect spark to inspire rich vocabulary, powerful descriptions, and vivid writing as we dive deeper into the text.

This dramatic start has already ignited imagination across the class and set the tone for some exciting writing ahead.
